Job Salary: $58,000 - $63,000



Job Summary


Galapagos Federal Systems LLC is looking for an enthusiastic, well-qualified individual to fill the Desktop Support Specialist role to support and enhance system operations within a dynamic and collaborative environment.


Under general direction, the Desktop Support Specialist will provide technical assistance and support for incoming questions and issues related to computer systems, software, and hardware. Assesses and troubleshoots computer support problems, performs diagnostic tests on programs, finds problems, and determines and implements solutions, applying understanding of computer software and hardware products and services.

• Active Secret security clearance
• 1+ years of experience in systems administration
• Provide technical support to system users for hardware, software, and network issues
• Respond to user inquiries via phone and email, diagnosing and resolving technical problems
• Identify issues related to hardware components such as modems, printers, cables, or network connections
• Guide users through step-by-step troubleshooting processes
• Collaborate with team members to research problems and identify effective solutions
• Test software and hardware for usability and effectiveness in supporting user tasks
• Write evaluations and recommendations on software and hardware for management review
• Develop and update user manuals, training procedures, and visual aids
• Conduct one-on-one and classroom training sessions for end users on hardware and software
• Follow up with users to ensure complete resolution of technical issues
• Manage and maintain internal desktop support systems, including physical and virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI)
• Employ best practices to deliver secure, standardized, and sustainable network services
• Support services such as DHCP, 802.1x, print services, authentication, and policy enforcement
• Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 help desk support for both local and remote Government Cloud Computing (GCC) personnel
• Monitor desktop service availability and performance; perform trend analysis to improve quality
• Maintain a self-help knowledge portal with general user guides and resources to assist the workforce

Education / Certifications

• Bachelor's degree, preferred computer science or information technology
• 4 years of experience in lieu of education
• CompTIA Security+, CompTIA A+ or CompTIA Network+

Security Clearance


Must be a U.S. Citizen. A high-level Department of Defense active security clearance is/may be required. Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to government information.



Physical Requirements


Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time and typing and reading from a computer screen. The candidate must have enough mobility, including bending, reaching, and kneeling, to complete daily duties in a prompt and efficient manner and that may include lifting to thirty pounds, as necessary.
