Job Description
Pediatric Early Intervention & Developmental Services is searching for early interventionists to join our dynamic team. Candidates MUST HAVE their own transportation and at least one year experience working with infants and toddlers ages 0-3 or toddlers ages 3-5 with disabilities.
Candidates should be comfortable conducting home visits and should be trustworthy, reliable, professional, dedicated, and compassionate. Work hours are flexible, and we offer unlimited PTO. Depending on education and experience, the salary range for this position is $40K-$50K per year. Mileage is reimbursed at $.67/mile.
Early interventionists (EIs) assess the development of and provide individualized support to infants and toddlers (birth to age 6) who exhibit developmental delays or are at risk for intellectual, communication, social/emotional, adaptive, or gross/fine motor delays. Early interventionists work closely with families to promote their children’s development through play-based supports, activities, and specially designed interventions and strategies within the child’s natural environment.
EIs collaborate with other specialists such as speech, occupational, and physical therapists to create comprehensive, developmentally appropriate service/treatment plans. This work includes communicating, collaborating, and planning with all individuals who work with and care for the child and family to support best outcomes.
Duties
* Conduct family and child assessments to develop outcomes (goals) and plan for services that guide, inform, and aid in each child’s development
* Develop and implement individualized plans (IFSPs & ISPs for infants and toddlers requiring support
* Collaborate with other providers and specialists (e.g. speech therapists, occupational therapists, etc) to develop strategies and interventions that support each child’s development
* Provide individualized support for families and children in the child’s natural environment (e.g. home, daycare, library, etc)
* Monitor progress and adjust/modify interventions, strategies and services as necessary to ensure desired outcomes.
* Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding children’s progress and strategies to aid with support at home.
* Document progress through written reports and assessments to track development over time.
Skills
* Superior understanding of early childhood development
* Ability to work effectively with children with disabilities (and those at risk of disabilities), demonstrating patience and empathy
* Excellent communication skills for interacting with children, families, other providers and colleagues
* Ability to effectively engage children and families and hold their interest
* Strong writing skills for documentation of progress and intervention strategies
* Ability to create a supportive, developmentally appropriate environment that is conducive to supporting child development
Education & Experience
A Bachelors degree in a social science field or early childhood development/education and 1 year experience working with infants and toddlers ages 0-3 or ages 3-5 with disabilities
OR
A Bachelors degree in any area and 3 years experience with infants and toddlers or children ages 0-5 with disabilities.
