Wildman Chalmers Design is a highly collaborative studio firm looking to hire a creative, detail-oriented senior residential interior designer (at least 8 years of experience, including internships and co-ops). Our office is currently located in Pittsburgh, PA and we work in a flexible studio environment. We are passionate about design, and our portfolio includes both renovation and new construction residential, commercial, multi-use and hospitality work. Most of our projects are in the greater Pittsburgh area (local travel), and we have a strong commitment to client satisfaction and creating thoughtful, well-designed spaces . We’re looking for highly motivated applicants who can multi-task and work independently on projects from the conceptual design phase through construction administration, and mentor our talented junior designers.
Responsibilities include: developing architectural drawings for use in both client presentations and construction documents; attending meetings with clients, consultants, contractors and vendors; participating in existing conditions surveys and architectural base plan preparation; material and product research; addenda, clarification sketches, submittal reviews and jobsite meetings during construction administration.
Requirements:
· Degree in Interior Design from an accredited institution
· At least 8 years relevant professional experience
· Collaborative, resourceful, disciplined & quick learning
· Experience with a broad range of project types preferred
· Strong passion for both design and the technical aspects getting a project built
· Proficiency in AutoCAD or Revit a must, Adobe Creative Suite, Lumion, Sketch Up a strong plus
Senior Interior Designer Responsibilities:
· Undertake design project from concept to completion
· Determine the client’s goals and requirements of the project
· Create a timeline for the interior design project and estimate project costs and fees according to budget and work within timely schedules to coordinate the completion of tasks through to final project completion
· Research and follow industry changes, evolutions, and best practices
· Prepare and participate in client presentations
· Interpret and translate customer needs into preliminary design plans and prepare final plans, using computer applications
· Produce “sample” and “mood products” and research and select materials and furnishings such as lighting, furniture, wall finishes, flooring, and plumbing fixtures
· Work with and mentor design team including junior interior designers, decorators, architects, fabricators, and contractors
· Oversee orders for materials and oversee installation of the design elements
· Conduct on-site observations and provide recommendations to help streamline ongoing design projects
· Follow up after completion of the project to ensure that the client is satisfied
