The purpose of the Hospital Operations Manager is to provide daily leadership to our hospital and partner with Hospital Veterinarian(s). The Hospital Operations Manager partners with our retail store partners to provide a smooth and profitable operation by creating a culture of high-quality patient care and exceptional customer service, as well as driving revenue and managing costs. The Hospital Operations Manager represents the mission and values of the hospital and Petco to all clients. Our partners are empowered to do what it takes to create an exceptional client and patient experience. The Hospital Operations Manager coordinates the overall operations of the hospital and cultivates a supportive and collaborative team environment by fostering cohesion and motivation within the team. Essential Job Functions include leading hospital paraprofessionals to drive operational excellence, efficiency, high standard patient care and excellent client experience; creating productive, collaborative and seamless relationships with all veterinarians in the hospital; managing day-to-day functions such as scheduling, equipment maintenance, inventory control, invoicing, patient scheduling, team training, radiological safety, and handling client concerns; overseeing hiring, training, reviewing, counseling and separation of paraprofessional partners; scheduling responsibilities; reviewing P&L monthly reporting and partnering with Area Operations Manager to increase revenue growth; escalating partner or client issues as required; collaborating with Petco store team to drive seamless customer experience; scheduling appointments, providing client education, maintaining hospital inventory and records, managing accounts receivable; maintaining hospital environment and OSHA standards; upholding all policies of Petco and Vetco Total Care. Other duties include patient care priority, resolving issues promptly, teamwork, collaboration with retail team, front desk support, and special projects. The role reports to the Area Operations Manager and requires excellent planning, problem solving, and supervisory skills. Minimum requirements include 2-3 years veterinary practice experience or 2+ years strong leadership experience, excellent communication, decision making, compassion, telephone etiquette, basic computer skills, and team player attitude. Desired qualifications include 3-5 years veterinary practice experience, P&L management, bachelor's degree or equivalent, management experience, reporting and data analysis, veterinary assistant/technician experience, and change agility. The work environment involves physical activity and direct contact with clients and pets.
